SET LISTS, ETC. From the Key West Shows
Thanks 'Gator' Mike :)
2nd set, Tue, I think: Long Tall Sally (Aaron sang lead)Are We In Love (including part of Stevie Wonders I Wish)Mellow Yellow (the Donovan tune)Anywhere But NowIm Down (Beatles song, Aaron standing in for Paul McCartney)SDDoTCJ, this night featuring a big bass soloA blues tune, with Wick, their guitar tech, on harmonica & vocals it was his birthday! (They repeated this on Wednesday) A dance song I think Michael called Disco Girl, with some Hendrix (3rd Stone From The Sun) thrown in for good measure Dizz Knee Land (I think Eric sang lead) Eight Days A Week (Beatles)
1st Set Thursday: Anywhere But Now, Are We In Love, Suicide Bridge, Its Cool Dude (with the Classics IVs Stormy surfacing in the middle), Systematic Dumbing Down Of Terry Constance Jones, Sophie, Rainy Day Women #12 and 35 (Bob Dylan, Everybody must get stoned) Sunshine And Ecstasy (Phil had dubbed it the Key West anthem on Wednesday, I think), Dim, Napalm Springs, Blue Roses, Alright, Here Today, Gone Tomorrow (with some of the Kinks So Tired Of Waiting For You in there,
2nd set Thursday: Long Tall Sally (The Beatles arrangement of the Little Richard tune, Aaron morphing into McCartney once again to sing this one) Are We In Love Mellow Yellow (Donovan, as indicated earlier)Anywhere But Now Let Me Set You Free (??? I cant read whats scribbled on the scrap of paper I cant remember! Ill get back to you if I can translate) the notes become truly incoherent at this point, so just believe me when I say there were other songs sung!
Other songs: Wonder (end of the 2nd set Wed, by request. Phil later said theyd been talking about playing that one live, but hadnt til then. Michael gave it a touching introduction.) A spur-of-the moment jam, She Needs Some Money. This was late in the second set Wednesday. There was this couple that made such a scene dancing that night, and if you didnt see them, you wouldnt believe it, so lets leave it at that. But after a while, she left, and he came back to the dance floor saying she needs some money. Michael repeated back to him, as if to confirm, then he turned it into a song. Oh, for a song improvised on the spot, they had the audience singing along by the end of the song!!!
Other cover songs performed: The first night, 2nd set, they did a punky hard core version of Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville which was not to be repeated the following two nights Led Zeppelins Communications Breakdown Creams Sunshine Of Your Love (2 shows) Jimi Hendrixs Fire on Thursday after there was a fire real early Thursday morning upstairs in Margaritaville The Beatles Get Back
Other dada tunes: Feel Me, Dont You Other guitar quotes: Santana: guitar lick from oh, I forgetOne of the songs ended with the coda from The Edgar Winter Groups Frankenstein SSDDoTCJ has an extended solo as performed live which can make it a nine-minute number. Hell of a solo. Suicide Bridge has a much different intro live Anywhere But Now has a very rocking intro Sunshine And Ecstasy has a surf song built in, not sure if it was a cover or original it also has a real big finish.
